Mary A. Kubacki, age 92, of Ubly, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 28, 2025. She was born on May 19, 1933, in Perham, MN, the second of ten children of parents Fritz and Helen Van Erp. Mary was a proud graduate of Ubly Community Schools, Class of 1951. She married Albert Kubacki on May 24, 1952, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Sheridan, MI. Together they farmed in Ubly until 1992 and raised their family with faith, hard work, and humor. Mary was an active member of the Farm Bureau and also worked for many years as a bookkeeper at the Michigan Livestock Exchange in Cass City. A woman of deep faith, Mary was a lifelong parishioner of St. John Catholic Church (Good Shepherd Parish) in Ubly, where she was also a member of the Christian Mothers. Mary and Al spent many winters in Holiday, FL, where she took up painting. She loved playing cards—competitive yet always gracious and quick to praise a hand well played—and she delighted in puzzles and never missed an episode of Jeopardy! Known for her quick wit and warmth, Mary could strike up a conversation with anyone and had a wonderful ability to laugh at herself.
