Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home Mac Chapel in Bad Axe from 10:00-12:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm with Rev. Kathy is survived by her daughter Michelle (Jim) Hughes; brother Michael (Trish) Clark; sisters Faye Gardner, Jean DeMoss, Colleen (Bob) Garland; grandchildren Whit, Preston and Annika Hughes and several nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by her close friends Rose Respondek and Connie Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael, her brother Valis Clark and sisters Anita Newman and Lou Beckowitz.

Biography

Margaret Kathryn Cowles, 89 years old of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025 at McLaren Lapeer Hospital. Kathy was born on November 30, 1936, to the late Clyde and Cotella (Reedy) Clark, in Buchanan County Virginia. Kathy and Michael Cowles were married on September 1, 1963 and had celebrated 60 years of marriage when he passed away in 2023. Kathy was a lifetime member of Huronia chapter #81, Order of the Eastern Star. Kathy taught herself to weave baskets, she liked to work crossword puzzles, she enjoyed baking and canning, and watching her deer and birds in the yard. Kathy supported her husband Mike while he coached High School tennis and liked to watch the matches. Kathy’s greatest joy was spending time with her Grandchildren who fondly called her “Ama”.
