Biography

Virginia Ann Eskau (née Costello), age 92, of Caseville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, with her family by her side at Meadow Lane in Bad Axe, Michigan. She was born on February 9, 1933, in Kinde, Michigan, to William and Mary Costello. Virginia married the love of her life, Raymond Eskau, in 1951 at St. Edward’s Church in Kinde, Michigan. Their marriage spanned an incredible 73 years. Virginia began her professional life as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell, before devoting herself full-time to raising her family. As a homemaker, she poured her heart into caring for her husband and three sons, creating a warm and loving home filled with laughter, good food, and cherished traditions. Virginia was known for her gentle spirit and generous heart. Her kindness touched all who knew her. She had a special talent for baking—her pies were legendary among family and friends—and she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether crocheting or knitting, tending to her garden, or working on puzzles at the kitchen table, Virginia brought patience and grace to everything she did. She also had an adventurous side and enjoyed traveling across the country in a motor home with her husband. Family gatherings were especially dear to her; she delighted in playing games with her children and grandchildren and treasured every moment seeing her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sitting on her deck and reading while looking out at the lake in her Lake Huron home.
