Visitation will be Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Inc. in Sebewaing from 2-8pm. The funeral service will be Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Francis Borgia Church in Pigeon. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Fr. George Amos will be officiating. Burial will be at New Bay Port Cemetery. Roger is survived by his 2 children: Robin (Michael) Rau of Midland and Pete Vollmer of Sebewaing; grandchildren: Piper Rau (fiancé’ Emilio Gomez) and Paige Rau; sister, Holly (Michael) Thick; nephews: Christopher (Cortney) Thick, Eric (Brianne) Thick and Ryan Thick. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Joseph Vollmer and nephew, William Thick.

Biography

Roger Frank Vollmer, age 71, of Bay Port, passed away October 20, 2025 at his home with his family by his side. Roger was born in Pigeon on June 23, 1954, to Frank and Phyllis (Schweitzer). He graduated from Lakers High School in 1972. On October 30, 1976, he married Judith Eckel. She preceded him in death April 2016. He is the former owner of Vollmer Plumbing & Heating for 40 years in Bay Port. Roger was extremely active in the Bay Port Chamber of Commerce and was the Grand Marshall during the Bay Port Fish Festival in August 2023. He dug graves and set cement foundations for many local cemeteries for many years. Roger was a former volunteer and was a supporter of the Fairhaven Township Fire Department. He also enjoyed spending time on the water on the boat, deer hunting with his cousins and barbecuing.
