Biography

Emily Christine (Briolat) Booms was born on August 11, 1949, and entered her eternal home on November 21, 2025. Known affectionately as Mom, Busia, Emily, or Aunt Emily, she was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, hospitality, and an unwavering faith in God, deeply rooted in her devotion to Mother Mary. Emily was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July 2024. From the beginning, Emily chose joy over sorrow, focusing on the fullness of her life rather than the reality of her death. Remarkably, that outlook carried her through. She prayed for strength and asked God to help her accept what she could not change. Emily’s legacy is one of faith, family, and generosity. She created a home where everyone felt welcome, where laughter filled the rooms and love was abundant. She enjoyed baking for family and friends, filling her kitchen with the comforting aroma of fresh bread, cinnamon rolls, and cookies. These treats became a hallmark of her love and hospitality. Baking wasn’t just something she did; it was her way of creating warmth and bringing people together. Above all, her greatest joy was her family; her children and grandchildren were her heart, and she prayed for them daily. Emily’s instructions to us are simple: celebrate her life, cherish the memories, and carry forward the love she so freely gave. This is the story of Emily Christine Booms, a woman who truly lived. Emily was born to the late Bertha and Edward Briolat and grew up in a home filled with kindness, faith and steady love. On September 7, 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, Gene Booms beginning a lifelong relationship rooted in love, faith, and shared purpose. Before any job title, Emily’s heart belonged to her children; being their mother was the most precious role and defined her life in the best possible way. Every decision she made and every job she took was centered around caring for her children and creating a loving home. Emily approached each chapter of her life with determination and an open heart. She began her career as a dedicated veterinary & dental assistant, later brought her steady presence to Signature Bank, and eventually became the proud owner and operator of the Korner Store. Together, with Gene, they built ECB Trucking, a shared dream that allowed them to work side by side and appreciate God’s creation in all its beauty.
