Funeral Information

Funeral Mass for Betty will be Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11 am, at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church of the Holy Name of Mary Parish, with Fr. Kevin Wojciechowski officiating. Burial will follow in the OLLH Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, at the church, from 10 am until time of services at 11 am. Betty is survived by her sons: Chris (Arla) Schumacher of Cadillac, Tad (Dawn) Schumacher of Harbor Beach, her daughters: Amy (Tom Trost) Schumacher of Kentwood, Beth (Chris Schott) Schumacher of Deckerville, 4 grandchildren: Chad (Tina) Schumacher, Kristyn Daniels, Nicole Trost, Jakob Schumacher, 4 great grandchildren: Kahl, Maggie, Payton and Alec. She was preceded in death by her husband Marcus, parents: Herman & Mamie Tageson, and brother James (Eleanor) Tageson and sister Shirley Shelley.

Biography

Betty Lou Schumacher, age 97 of Harbor Beach, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Lakeview Extended Care and Rehab Center of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital. She was born on February 17, 1928 in Harbor Beach, to the late Herman and Mamie (Smith) Tageson. Betty and Marcus Schumacher were united in marriage on January 6, 1951 in Harbor Beach. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2013. Betty graduated from the Bronson School of Nursing from Kalamazoo, and worked at Harbor Beach Community Hospital as a Registered Nurse for the Acute Care, Operating and the Emergency Room as Nursing Supervisor. She enjoyed playing Bridge, golfing, dancing, and bowling. Betty especially enjoyed being outdoors, and a true naturalist for the outdoors.
