Marvin Messing, a devoted husband, loving father, and lifelong steward of the land, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at his winter home in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 87. He was born on August 13, 1938, in Ruth, Michigan, to the late Walter and Dorothy (Buhl) Messing. In 1961, Marvin married the love of his life, Lorene (Heleski). Together, they shared a profound bond for 64 years, building a family and a life rooted in faith and community. Marvin was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church throughout his entire lifetime, worshiping at St. Columbkille, Sheridan Corners, MI, alongside Lorene and his family. Marvin dedicated 65 years to farming, beginning his stewardship of the land in 1962. His work was more than a profession; it was a legacy. The Messing farm has been a cherished part of the family for three generations and continues to flourish today, now operated by his granddaughter Ashley Kennedy and her family. Beyond the fields, Marvin found great satisfaction in his bountiful garden, ensuring that no one ever left their house in Michigan without taking home fresh vegetables. He loved to play cards, especially when it meant gathering around a table with cherished friends and family. Marvin and Lorene cherished their time in Mesa, where their neighbors became close and cherished friends over the years. Above all, he was dedicated to his family and loved spending time with them.
