Biography

James “Jim” Frederick Warren, 83, of Caseville passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Bay View Gardens in Sebewaing, Michigan, with his family by his side. Jim was born on April 27, 1942, in Detroit to the late Wilbur “Guy” and Maude “Lucille” (Kast) Warren and was a 1960 graduate of Pigeon High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating high school and served as an electrician on the U.S.S. Hunley from 1960 to 1964, including during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his honorable discharge, Jim went to work in robotics, first for Chrysler and then Ford until his retirement in 2005. He married his high school sweetheart Joyce Maxwell on June 20, 1964, at St. Roch Catholic Church. The couple spent over 61 years together, raising a loving family together in their home in Pigeon. Jim was a member of the Imlay City Knights of Columbus Council 4556 and American Legion post 135. Along with Joyce, Jim was a devout Catholic, splitting his time between St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden and St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing throughout Michigan, tending a large garden from which he canned and preserved numerous fruits and veggies, and collecting maple syrup from the trees on his property. Jim was a great cook who loved to host his friends and family and could always be found cracking jokes and sharing his good nature with those around him. He is remembered as being independent, guided by his convictions and steadfast nature. Jim was dependable and went above and beyond for those he loved. He was tough but generous to a fault, always quick to lend a hand to any person (or animal) in need.
