Visitation will be Saturday, June 27th 10 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Harbor Beach. Service at 11 am with a luncheon to follow. In lieu flowers, donations may be given to Zion Lutheran School, Harbor Beach, MI or Answers in Genesis, P.O. Box 510 Hebron, Kentucky 41048-0510 A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church, Harbor Beach, MI at a later date in the spring when family can travel, with burial in Rock Falls Cemetery where he sleeps awaiting the return of Jesus Christ at the resurrection, the Final judgment and eternal life with Jesus his Savior.

Bill is survived by his sister Ellen Schroeder of Maple Grove, MN, brothers Donald (Jane) Haas of Arnold, MO and Art of Port Austin, MI, plus several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert & Frieda Haas, brother and sister-in-law Herbert & Sandra Haas, brother-in-law Rev. Theodore Schroeder, and nephew Andrew Haas.

Biography

William R.A. Haas age 82 of Port Austin passed away Jan. 26,2026 at Huron County Medical Care Facility. Bill was born in Bad Axe, MI to Herbert & Frieda Haas, graduated from Zion Lutheran School, Harbor Beach Community School and MSU, where in his senior year he was honored to be the top Intercollegiate Meat Grader in the nation. After college Bill served in the Army Veterinary Corps, worked for the USDA as a federal meat grader and market news reporter. Later he managed the MACMA Livestock Division selling feeder pigs and feeder cattle and farming part-time. Upon retirement he helped neighboring farmers. He served 16 years as Township Supervisor and was active at Zion Lutheran Church, holding several positions and being instrumental in starting the early childhood center.
