In keeping with Doris’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass of Celebration for Doris will be at a later date. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery, Ubly, Michigan. The family was assisted with these arrangements by Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing, Michigan.
Doris is survived by her son Gerald (Cindy) Glaza of Canton, MI; Joan (Ronald) Smith of Bath, MI; Janet (Donald) Williams of West Bloomfield, MI; and Diana (Ed Fedewa) Gover of Lansing; nine grandchildren, Matthew Glaza, Julie (Matt) Huenemann, Jane (Andy) Brachulis, Justin Smith, Andrew Smith, Blake (Natalia) Williams, Mareka Glaza, Max Gover, and Elle Gover; five great grandchildren, Jack, Miles, and Leo Huenemann, Beatrice and Josephine Brachulis and sister in law Genevieve (Ronald) Gorang. She was preceded in death by a son Michael J. Glaza; siblings, Eugene (Vera) Priemer, Johanna (Jack) Oborski, Colletta (Norbert) Magalski, Rita (Bernard) Oberski, Winnie (Henry) Sofka, her twin Delores (Harold) Higgins-Frantz, Joseph (June) Priemer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley R. (Gertrude) Glaza, Susan (Reynold) Deachin-Tschirhart, Edward (Edna) Glaza, Mildred (John) Antos, Margaret (Ambrose) Michalski-Chinoski, and Delores (Felix) Dapkus. The family would like to give special thanks to McLaren Hospice and CorsoCare at StoryPoint East Lansing for their compassionate care of Doris during these difficult times.
Mrs. Doris M. Glaza, 102, formerly of Ubly, Michigan, passed away February 19, 2026 in East Lansing, Michigan where she had resided for the past 12 years. She was born on July 22, 1923 to Lucas and Anna Priemer (Hessling) of Ruth, Michigan. She married John (Jack) W. Glaza in 1941 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth, Michigan. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2000 after 58 years of marriage. Doris was an excellent seamstress, sewing many clothes for her family and her granddaughters’ dolls. She also made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. She loved sewing and quilted many years with relatives and friends. After her five children were raised, she worked at the Ubly seat belt factory as a sewing machine operator. Doris was a parishioner of St. John Catholic Church (Good Shepherd Parish) in Ubly where she was also a member of the Christian Mothers and the Daughters of Isabella. After retirement, Doris and Jack spent many winters in Holiday, FL. In her later years she was very active in the Huron County senior citizens group in Bad Axe, taking many lunches there and enjoying card games.
