Mary is survived by her sons: George (Susan) Simmerlein of Ubly, Greg (Gloria) Simmerlein of Washington Township, 4 grandchildren: Ryan (Morganne) Simmerlein of Gaylord, Ashley (Lance) Richardson of Saginaw, Bethany & Sarah Simmerlein of Washington Township, 4 great grandchildren: Skylar & Brady Simmerlein of Gaylord, Harper and Sawyer Richardson of Saginaw, as well as nieces, nephews, many cousins and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband George D.( Rusty) Simmerlein, her parents Cleatus and Helen Howey, sister Betty Rushing, an infant brother, as well as several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousin and in-laws.

Biography

Mary E. Simmerlein, 83 of Ubly, passed away peacefully Friday, July 24, 2026 in Bay City, Michigan. She was born on July 25, 1942 to the late Cleatus & Helen (Morrish) Howey in Cass City. She was a 1960 graduate of Detroit Western High School. Mary was united in marriage to George D. (Rusty) Simmerlein of Detroit on June 23, 1962. They celebrated 32 years of marriage together. She and her husband shared an adventurous spirit, traveling to 48 states out of the 50. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, enjoyed music by Elvis, Bob Seger and was a big fan of the WWE. She was a dedicated stay at home mom until her children were grown. She then worked for Erla's in Cass City and later for McDonald's Food and Family Center of Bad Axe until her retirement.
