Funeral Information

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in care of Margaret Moore to be used to support educational opportunities for students. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church (Annunciation of the Lord Parish) in Port Austin, Michigan with Fr. Andy Booms and Fr. Craig Carolan presiding. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 at MacAlpine Gage Chapel in Kinde from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and also on Saturday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service. Family of the Deceased

He married the love of his life, Margaret Fisher in 1962. She succeeds him as well as three children. They are Thomas (Elaine) Moore, Port Austin, Suzanne (Brian) Peruski, Plano, Illinois, and Jeffrey (Lynette) Moore, Kinde. He also is survived by seven grandchildren; Daniel Peruski, Eric (Justine) Peruski, Zachary (Samantha) Peruski, Marissa (David) Zukowski, Haley (Evan) Dhyse, Brandon (Angelica) Moore, and Tyler Moore (special friend Grace); along with six great grandchildren Hadley, Lucille, Jameson, Katlynn, Kameron, Myla and two more on the way. He is survived by one brother Robert (Mary) Moore; sister-in-law Kathleen Moore, as well as in-laws Mary Cales, Julie (Gary) Rossi, Mark Fisher, Pamela (Melvin) Drake, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents and Stepfather Lester Eustace; in-laws Stanley and Gertrude Fisher; brothers Edward, James, and Gerald Moore, and sister-in-laws Ruth Ann and Virginia Moore; brothers-in-law Don Fisher; Ken Fisher, and Warren Cales.

Biography

John T. Moore, Kinde, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on July 28, 2026. John was born in Bad Axe, Michigan on May 8, 1939, the son of the late John and Mary (Mroczek) Moore. He was a graduate of Ferris State University with a science teaching degree. He also earned a Master’s in School Administration, and an Educational Specialist Degree from Central Michigan University. He began his career in 1961 at North Huron Schools where he was a teacher, coach, principal and became Superintendent at age 29. He was among the youngest superintendents in the State of Michigan at that time. In 1988, he was named Superintendent of the Tuscola intermediate School District and served as a member of the Michigan Association of School Administrators Board. He retired in 2001, after serving in the educational community for 40 years. After retirement, he was voted into the Region 5 Administrators’ Hall of Fame. After retirement, he established Thumb Educational Services which contracts with school districts to provide staffing options. He was active in county affairs and was a member of the Kinde Lion’s Club, Verona Hills Golf Course, and Caro Rotary Club. In addition, he also served on the Boards of the Huron County Planning Commission, Huron County Mental Health (now known as Huron Behavioral Health), and the Huron County Community Foundation. John enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in High School athletics, college athletics, and dirt track racing. He also enjoyed playing cards (aka choir practice), golfing, and visiting with family and friends.
