Leroy's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 1 pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation for Leroy will be on Saturday, beginning at 10 am until time of services at 1 pm. Leroy will be laid to rest at the Lakeview Cemetery in Port Hope. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Grindstone Port Hope Sportsman's Club, the Port Hope Fire Department, or a charity of your choice. Memories can be shared at www.RamseyFH.com

(Marilyn) Pleiness, Carol (Jim) Hunter, Richard (Mary Jane) Pleiness, Rodney (Cheryl) Pleiness, step-sisters: Linda (Bob) Jehle and Sandra Coppo, nephews: Mark Pleiness, Craig Pleiness, Todd (Jamie) Pleiness and patrick (Leah) Coppo, nieces: Lori Rodocker, Lisa (Tom) Crompton, Amy (Scott) Cooper, Carrie Coppo, great nieces: Kayla Pleiness, Mara Cooper, Shannen Sandford-Cooper, Taylor Rodocker, Morgan Crompton, great nephews: Spencer Crompton, Connor Crompton and Trevor (McKayla) Rodocker. He was preceded in death by his parents; Herman & Dora Pleiness and his wife Loretta.

Biography

Leroy Walter Pleiness, 81 of Port Hope, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026 in Bad Axe. He was born in Bloomfield Township, to the late Herman Emil and Dora Delaine (Koglin) Pleiness on February 21, 1945. Leroy graduated from Port Hope Community High School in 1963. He married Loretta (Loga) Meno on June 13, 1980 and together they owned and operated the Port Hope Hotel, creating the famous "Leroy Burger". Leroy was an avid sports fan and enjoyed talking about the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Lions and the University of Michigan Football Team to whomever wanted to engage in these topics. Leroy loved Port Hope and was involved in bringing many baseball teams to Port Hope for tournaments. He enjoyed bowling and sponsored pool leagues, and was a fierce competitor no matter what he did.
