A vehicle left the roadway along M-142 northwest of Bad Axe on Tuesday evening, prompting a response from local emergency crews.
The incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16th, 2025, just west of the intersection of M-142 and Barrie Road in Huron County's Colfax Township, northwest of Bad Axe. The area is a rural stretch of state highway that serves as a key east-west route in Michigan's Thumb region.
An ambulance and deputies from the Huron County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Initial observations at the scene indicated that a single vehicle had gone into a ditch, though several other vehicles had stopped nearby and the extent of any damage or injuries was not immediately clear.
As of Tuesday night, authorities had not released details about injuries, the number of people involved, or the cause of the crash. The incident remained under investigation by the Huron County Sheriff's Office, and motorists in the area were urged to use caution while passing first responders working along the highway.
