Two educational programs were reviewed by the Unionville-Sebewaing Area School District's Board of Education at this month's meeting.
A presentation on the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) was given.
MTSS is an educational framework used in schools to provide a comprehensive system of support for all students that address their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs through a tiered system of interventions.
It is a data-driven framework, not a specific curriculum, that is designed to help educators identify struggling students early and intervene quickly.
The board approved using the CKLA Literacy Materials.
There was also a presentation on Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA).
It is a literacy curriculum from Amplify that combines foundational reading skills such as phonics, fluency content and more.
In other matters, the board approved hiring Skylar Kauffold as a first-grade Teacher, and Joel Brinkman was hired as the varsity softball coach.
