A voluntary statewide tornado drill is set for Wednesday, March 18th, 2026, at 1 p.m., according to the Michigan State Police. The exercise, coordinated by the agency's Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division, will trigger outdoor warning sirens across Michigan as part of a planned preparedness effort.
Officials stress the sirens are part of a scheduled practice designed to help residents review safety procedures in the event of a real tornado warning. While peak tornado season in Michigan typically runs from March through June, severe weather can occur at any time of year.

Authorities remind residents not to be alarmed if sirens sound outside the usual monthly test schedule, emphasizing that the March 18th activation is simply a statewide training drill focused on emergency readiness.
