Hemlock Public School District has announced plans to broaden its Advanced Placement (AP) program beginning in the 2026-27 school year. The district expects to add at least five new AP courses, including AP Physics and AP Calculus, along with expanded options across core and elective subjects.

District leaders say the move reflects a commitment to academic rigor and preparing students for college, careers, and other postsecondary paths. Board President Matthew Wesener called the expansion "an investment in student ambition," while Superintendent Dr. Don Killingbeck emphasized the goal of building confidence and readiness through challenging coursework.

Students have voiced enthusiasm for the initiative, noting that more AP choices will allow them to tailor their academic pathways and earn college credit while still in high school. The district plans to release full course details and enrollment guidance in the coming months.
